Turning the Corner without Hitting a Wall

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/Director of PMR/CMBS Global

The job market is not what it used to be. In fact, more and more of us find ourselves forced to make a career change these days and in our search for paying work, turning the corner can often mean hitting a wall. If you have had to “make some adjustments” in your life-style due to a decrease or loss in income, take a look – deep inside you – and ask yourself the following questions:

  • What was so good about my former job?
  • What would I choose to do if I could do whatever I wanted to earn a living?
  • What do I know, what experience do I possess that others do not – and are needing?
  • What would it mean to me to be able to set my own hours?
  • How can I stop searching for a ‘niche’ and create one instead? [Read more...]

Eating Your Losses Is Not A Healthy Business Diet

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/Director of PMR/CMBS Global

Meg Wolff

Healthy is as healthy does. Healthy choices made in life, as well as in business, will generally produce greater rates of success. In today’s world of health conscious efforts and fitness routines, it goes without saying that by consistently ‘eating your losses’ you are not practicing a healthy business diet.

Expecting healthy results in business without having the proper product, service, marketing and follow-up on the menu is like eating at McDonald’s three times a day – every day – and expecting your health to steadily improve over time.

Just as advancements in medicine have provided us alternatives for health-care, today’s technology continues to provide the entrepreneur with a vast array of choices to maintain the health of his or her business. No longer is there only one way of providing service to customers. Gone are the days of waiting in line and hoping for an answer to phone calls. Messages are received nearly anywhere, at any hour of the day or night, via various devices – providing information and answers to questions virtually at the speed of light. [Read more...]

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/Director of PMR/CMBS Global

6 figure success club

This is the Age of Distraction! If you work online, you know what I mean. Marketing online is truly a skill and your focus must be what you focus on if you intend to successfully overcome the many temptations to become distracted on the Internet. But, it can be done.

We are all bombarded with so much noise, so many things to distract us, that in the course of any given day it’s beyond easy to get off focus and fail to accomplish what we intend to do – and more importantly – what we MUST do. But, particularly for those of us who make a living by working online, distractions are continually ‘incoming’ and disruptive, making it increasingly difficult to obtain our goals. [Read more...]

Niche-less Keeps You Penniless in Business, Find and Market to Your Niche

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/Director of PMR/CMBS Global

6 figure success club

Do you really know your niche in business…sure of your niche market? Are you speaking to those who want to hear from you and are looking for the products and services you offer? Niche-less keeps you penniless in business, so how do you find and market to your niche?

Most everyone will agree that your niche is whatever you are most passionate about. Here’s how the Free Online Dictionary defines the word Niche:

  • A place or position suitable or appropriate for a person or thing: to find one’s niche in the business world.
  • A distinct segment of a market.
  • Ecology: the position or function of an organism in a community of plants and animals.
  • Adjective: pertaining to or intended for a market niche; having a specific appeal: niche advertising.

So, what is your “suitable or appropriate position” in the business world? Are you a strong leader, CEO material – or do you prefer to be told what to do and when to do it, preferring to work on task? Do you enjoy working from a list, able to see and measure your accomplishments – or are you more of a ‘free spirit’, leaning toward freelance projects that allow you to work at your own pace? What Is The Best Approach To Blogging? How Having a Goal Helps You Blog More Effectively

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO and Director of PMR / CMBS Global

To be truly effective when writing content for business blogging from the angle of teaching (as Marcus Sheridan suggests) we must remain approachable. No teacher is looked to as a resource or mentor unless those who need their help view them as approachable.

Bloggers should avoid writing as though ‘looking for a fight’ – this can cause the entire article to be written from a defensive voice. Instead, writing from our passion may invite debate, but it won’t invoke hostility toward our words, it will more likely engage and then provoke thought and possibly conversation. [Read more...]

Something Amazing Can Happen Overnight

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/CMBS Global

Something amazing happened to me overnight. When I got on theAmazing Georgia Mud Fudge Blizzard bathroom scales this morning, I had lost weight! That alone was amazing, but what really made this overnight success truly something to shout out loud about for me was that I had finally reached a goal. You see, this is the first time in too many years that I am under “a certain poundage” and though I had set this as a goal, I had not really put much effort into getting here. I wanted to see results, but the ugly truth is that I had been a slacker.

I know better than to “just hope it will happen”, but I also had a lot of distractions over the past weeks and just allowed myself to slip into a bit of a rut with my efforts to lose weight. I even cheated – (Dairy Queen has an amazing Blizzard called Georgia Mud Fudge). So, not only were my efforts slacking, but also I allowed other things to cause me to stray off the path that would have assured me quicker results. [Read more...]

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/CMBS GLOBAL

Don't you just love Social Media? So much to do over lunch!

Where else can you meet up with others, whom you have never met face-to-face and possibly never will, and get to know them as if they lived in your neighborhood? Where else can you “rub virtual shoulders” and network with those who have similar dreams and goals, without leaving your desk chair?

Entrepreneurs With Building Skills Required To Avert Foundational Issues

by Charlotte L. Hanna CMO/CMBS GLOBAL

A sound and firm foundation is crucial to any structure. Whether building a house or a business, the first level is always what the rest of the structure relies upon for support. The ability to remain standing in the midst of a variety of storms, the ability to remain strong and unshaken, will depend on how well the foundation was constructed.

A strong, well-laid foundation has never been more needed than it is today, both in the physical and business realms. Catastrophic weather conditions have rocked the earth and catastrophic financial conditions have rocked our economy over the past several years. People have lost what they could see and touch and hold with their own hands, as well as the investments they had made in a future yet to come.

Now is the time to consider all of your options, while there are still some options to be considered. But don’t let a cracked foundation cause you to move on or abandon your efforts – take a closer look and see if repairing the structural damage may be more cost effective in today’s market. Bedbugs and Prevention Plans

by Charlotte L. Hanna CCO CMBS Global

Bedbugs graphicWith warnings of Bedbug prevalence on the rise, hotels and motels have been forced to come up with Prevention Plans. Well, at least some reputable businesses in the hospitality industry have come up with action plans to protect themselves and their guests.

If you want to know which hotels really care about their customers, upon check-in, ask what practices are in place for Bedbug prevention and whether or not the business conducts proactive inspections. Ask how often they employ pest management procedures.

Not comfortable with such bold measures upon checking in? Why? Would you feel better about asking for the information AFTER you discover the bugs in the room you just paid for? Or after you awake the next morning with severe itching and welt-like bites in a line-shaped pattern (known in the industry as breakfast, lunch, and dinner)?

Of course, you would rather know of any potential problems with Bedbugs BEFORE you have submitted yourself, your family members, and your belongings to an infestation. You would rather be safe than sorry – save yourself any needless discomfort and suffering – and prevent any extra costs when just a few simple but direct questions can easily prevent it, right? Asking the right questions, regardless of the discomfort to the hotel management, at the onset of your stay can help alleviate your stress and make the entire experience enjoyable and relaxing. The effort beforehand will likely provide you better results for your money. [Read more...]
